woot! woot! woot!

well, in half an hour i zip over to the house, pick up SWMBA and head to the airport.

i eagerly anticipate lots of relaxing and laid back fun, surrounded by my little jewel of a country. it pleases me that, at least for the time being, it's basically my own private paradise.

looking forward to the travel also.

looking forward already to the welcome home pint when we return.

those who know me should be aware that we return the day before my birthday.

(cue bugs bunny voice) Bon voyage! Au Revoir!

tomooooooorrrrrrrrooooooooowwwww!

*anticipatory sigh*

tonight, we go see da baby at me bruddah's house. then the frantic packing by She Who Must Be Adored, followed by the last north american sleep. :)

i have two very minor concerns. the first is that our bed in europe may very well have one of the most uncomfortable mattresses evar. the second is the lack of air conditioning...

wow. princess and the pea much, carlo?

almost...there...almost...there...

very warm today.
i'm very uncle today too.
oh, and very pining for golf.
there also may be a smidgen of work-related anxiety.

there is definitely a healthy dose of desire to be on a terrace with SWMBA and Ffej (in the shade) right now.

2 more sleeps.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh.

only three more sleeps

until we get on the plane.
I sincerely LOVE travelling with She Who Must Be Adored. folks, unless you've done it or been present for my many stories (i convey emotion better in person. y'know, italian facial expressions, hand gestures, and so on...) you have no idea what she's like.

i intend to maximize the pleasure and enjoy it for all it's worth. oh, and at the end of the fantastic travel, we're in freaking Europe, man! oh, happy day.
The couple of you who know me well enough understand what spending time in europe means to me. the colonies are nice and all, but they can wear on a person.

friday? of course.

Beethoven Triple Concerto is playing on the radio. da da da da. :)

how can the girls in my office prefer meaningless Couleur Jazz garbage to actual music? i'll never understand those that don't "get" real classical and romantic music.

will the latest britney spears or usher single even be remembered in as little as a year from now?

even "classic rock" type stuff fades, and is considered "classic" if it's still played 15 years after release...

meh, i'm just a stodgy old fart, i guess...

oh yeah...

six more days, bubba.
then we're outta here! well, for 2.6 weeks anyway.

frustrations mount this AM. gotta be careful about this.

tonight, we've preempted my weekly martini for something else. i'm going to have to make a decision shortly about that.

in other news, i'm going to be an uncle very very soon.

sunny day!

this past weekend was quite fantastic. actually, on a scale of One to Awesome, it was pretty cool.

friday night we had an expensive dinner in Littaly during the forumla 1 craziness. the short on time but not in energy storm was cool. saturday was the christening of the child, followed by the romping in the neighborhood, the buying of the necklace for our niece, and the eating of the steak chez my folks. truth be told, my parents are becoming very pleasant to hang around these days...

sunday, sunny sunday, we hung out in front of the lake in the park.

exactly one month 'till i'm 33 freaking years old. exactly 10 days till we leave for europe. ahhhh...

decoder ring, activate!

the message below is funnier if you consider the headline:

Things you should do in an elevator.

there. /now/ you can laugh.

:)

The Formula 1 circus is in town. Capitalists go go go!

sooooo funny!

i got this from a very entertaining blog http://hummerous.blogspot.com/
you should go read it for a chuckle or four.

1. Grimace painfully while smacking your forehead and muttering: "Shut up, dangit, all of you just shut UP!"
2. Whistle the first seven notes of "It's a Small World" incessantly.
3. Crack open your briefcase or purse, and while peering inside ask: "Got enough air in there?"
4. Offer name tags to everyone getting on the elevator. Wear yours upside-down.
5. Stand silent and motionless in the corner, facing the wall, without getting off.
6. Greet everyone getting on the elevator with a warm handshake and ask them to call you Admiral.
7. On the highest floor, hold the door open and demand that it stay open until you hear the penny you dropped down the shaft go "plink" at the bottom.
8. Stare, grinning, at another passenger for a while, and then announce: "I've got new socks on!"
9. Meow occasionally.
10. Walk on with a cooler that says "human head" on the side.
11. Stare at another passenger for a while, then announce "You're one of THEM!" and move to the far corner of the elevator.
12. When the elevator is silent, look around and ask "is that your beeper?"
13. Say "Ding!" at each floor.
14. Say "I wonder what all these do" and push the red buttons.
15. Listen to the elevator walls with a stethoscope.
16. Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and announce to the other passengers that this is your "personal space."
17. Announce in a demonic voice: "I must find a more suitable host body."
18. Make explosion noises when anyone presses a button.

this is amazing

we're about to have the third night, in a row mind you, with no obligations or commitments. wow!

just me, She Who Must Be Adored, and our whims. *contented sigh*

wonder what we'll have for dinner...maybe Past'e Rapini. mmmmmmmmm.

Oooooh, and we'll drink one of those Shiraz that we've got.

Oh, narc, if you still read this, I want us to get together, have your, ah, er, um, lasagna, and savour that bottle of Yalumba Hand Picked that I've got...
I'd like this to happen before we leave for Europe on the 21st.

what an awesome weekend

we just had. apart from a nicely cooked dinner courtesy of my friend on friday night, we had no plans. zero. zilch. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

we kicked around downtown saturday afternoon after a tasty sammich at Santropol, and then did a whole lot o'nothin' at home.

sunday we went over to the club, where i hit a couple of hundred balls getting my new and improved swing in order. sunday afternoon we watched the fellowship of the ring and then lay on the balcony at night, enjoying the crazy fresh air for an hour or so.

oh, and tasty bailey's was had by all.

monday arrived with a bang, however. the relative stupidity and greed of people makes me queasy. man's inhumanity to man etc etc...
we are so far gone past misguidedness, it's crazy. wow, how many grammar rules did i just break?

i long

to be free of obligations. apart from the wedding a couple of weeks ago, they are beginning to task me...
