my head hurts

maybe, just maybe, that last cognac after dinner was a poor choice...

oh, it's cottage country this weekend again. sooooooo looking forward to it!

after all, since autumn is taking its sweet time getting here, we may as well head up and relax...

when did the common folk stop being nice to each other?

it's strange, and a little off-putting...i wonder when we decided to enter the Universe of Me, and do/say/try whatever it took to squeak ahead a little more...

you ever watch Little House on the Prairie? Bonanza? 90210? being part of a larger community, rather than getting what's yours if you can...

y'know, how many folks would, if they saw the guy walking in front of them drop a large roll of cash when pulling his keys out of his pocket, tap him on the shoulder and give it back?

on a lighter note, i've got CLUBHOUSE tickets on thursday for the President's Cup, if ya can believe it.

sleepy

this AM. i can't quite figure out why, and i hope i'm not fighting a cold.

yesterday, i played a wonderful round of golf with my dad and accountant. i really had a blast, and i was hitting the ball half-decently, which made it that much more pleasurable.

i really miss music

the sound system in my car is getting wonky. the speakers in the driver's door don't always work, and it's mega-disruptive to the enjoyment of music. if they were always off, it would be better.

speaking of music, why is it that any modern orchestral or symphonic music (basically Mahler and later--20th century) apart from the odd piece, like Mahler's 1st symphony, or the Russian stuff (Shostakovich, Rachmaninov, etc) has to be atonal and melodically grating. are they purposefully trying to avoid writing any pleasing melodies? it's as if a robot or computer or disfunctional math genius is trying his hand at making music.

Stephen Hawkin's Symphony #4, Of Black Holes and Fingernails on Chalkboards

i'll tell you what i want

what i really really want.

wow. deep fucking lyrics. i'm sure beethoven is twisted into a jealous frenzy up in heaven...

mind you, i shouldn't be so ooky about it (ooky. new word.), considering i believe that Carlo Luigi De Masi in song form is Werewolves of London, by Warren Zevon.

maybe i shouldn't pontificate quite so enthusiastically. nah, i don't really care either way, thusly ensuring that my time-capsule state-of-mind depot, or blog, remains more amusing to me later on.

oh, hey, Carlo, make sure you enjoy the hell out of this week. fall glory (well, late summer glory--it's still too warm), and a nice birthday party friday night.

i like

my hobbies. sounds strange, right? it sort of kind of occured to me how many folks i know appear to be marking time. it's difficult to quantify, so i'll invite you to call me up for a pint or three if you're interested in the long version.

woo hoo!!!

guess what season is upon us?

Monday, September 10, 2007

what can i say?

i'm not an american football guru. it just seems like common sense to take Rex Gross-MAN out behind the barn and shoot him...

how can the offensive coordinator set up a decent bunch of plays when he can't tell from one snap to the next what Gross-MAN is going to do. will be be the Rex who can nail the 40 bomb or will he instead pass the ball to a season ticket holder up in the bleachers? will he nail the play-action outside pass or fumble the snap?

*sigh*

off with his head, and bring in Griesy (Greisey? Greasy? Greisy?)!

The world is a poorer place today

than it was yesterday. Luciano Pavarotti, once a potential football pro and since the greatest tenor voice i've ever heard, is gone. vacuous meaningless gimicky useless fucking "macaroni art" music seems to be par for the course lately, and even the so-called new breed of opera singers are just sensationists pandering to their niche audience.

just take two photos side by side and you may understand what i'm getting at, or look at short videos (gotta love youtube). find one of pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma or O Sole Mio. Pay careful attention to the expression of pure joy on his face. then watch Lotti or Buble or any of the new wave doing the same song.

my stomache turns.

nice day out

wish i could zip over to the club for a round this pm, but alas, i've too much to do. She Who Must Be Adored wishes to go swimming in my parent's pool after work, so off we go. other non-sequitors....um....yeah, looking forward to Diary of the Dead being released...

hey hey!

here i am, back from a fun and fulfilling business trip to florida. we've got some interesting whatnots and stuff to deal with now.

i ain't so much looking forward to this work week, for the unknown craziness that is sure to surface...

oh, this past weekend in quebec city was spectacular. we bought some art!
