a very agreeable afternoon

was had by me. first, i fired my first 100 rounds with handguns. wow, was that ever a humbling experience. it's a miracle anybody can hit anything with 'em. they are horribly inaccurate, and when you combine that with my complete noob-ness, you end up with some erratic results.

my first gun was a beretta 92, the pretty pretty 9mm you see in a lot of movies. it, uh, jammed after a few shots. i felt like james bond when the guy took it back, claiming it had been horribly abused recently and still wasn't quite right. y'see, james had his beretta taken away and replaced with a german model in dr. no.

my second 9mm was better, although it didn't feel as nice in the hands. mind you, i'm not a pistol fan anyway, much preferring the feel and look of a nice mid-frame revolver (see smith & wesson 686 for reference).

then, after 50 rounds, a buddy talked me into buying another box of 50 in .40S&W caliber and trying his gun, which i did. the .40 bucks a little more and makes a bigger BANG!, which is actually quite fun, though i see now why so many people rave about 9mm's.

maybe i'll head back today. i'd like to finally try a .357magnum...

last night was a terrace for the three of us. an enjoyable evening altogether.

oh, and i slept like utter poop last night again. woot.
